The Journey
The upcoming opening of The Sanctum at Sugar Hill promises to bring a new level of elevated dining and hospitality to North Georgia. Owned by entrepreneur Lisa Garey, the upscale steakhouse and seafood concept was created with one goal in mind: bringing true luxury hospitality and memory-creating dining experiences back to the restaurant industry.
Originally from Singapore, Lisa was raised around the world of high-end hospitality. Her father served as a director within the luxury hotel industry and instilled in her from an early age the belief that exceptional service should create lifelong memories for guests. After moving to the United States in early adulthood, she earned her master’s degree from the University of Georgia, where she also taught before building a successful career in retail leadership and corporate training with companies including the LEGO Corporation.
After years of wanting to become an entrepreneur, Lisa recognized a growing demand in Sugar Hill for a truly elevated dining destination — one that would allow residents to enjoy a fine dining experience close to home without traveling into Atlanta. Following discussions with city leadership and seeing the continued growth of the area, she knew Sugar Hill was the perfect location for the concept.
Inspired by the legendary Ritz-Carlton Gold Standards of hospitality, The Sanctum at Sugar Hill is designed around service, attention to detail, and creating unforgettable guest experiences. Every member of the team — from dishwasher to manager — has been selected not only for skill, but for charisma, passion, and a shared commitment to making guests feel seen, heard, and genuinely valued.
Rather than relying on a traditional single executive chef structure, the restaurant has assembled a collaborative team of talented sous chefs to lead the culinary program. The kitchen will focus on fresh, never-frozen ingredients and an evolving menu influenced by seasonal and fresh market availability. Signature offerings will include premium prime steaks, elevated seafood dishes, and Southern-inspired favorites such as shrimp and grits.
Front-of-house operations will be led by Sylina Libasci, whose approach blends refined service with authentic Southern hospitality, bringing warmth and personality to an industry often viewed as formal or intimidating. Beverage Director Mark Silvestro has developed a cocktail and wine program designed to be approachable yet sophisticated — honoring timeless classics while introducing innovative new flavors and experiences.
While the food and beverage programs are central to the concept, Lisa says the true focus of The Sanctum at Sugar Hill is the guest experience itself:
